DTW Airport

Based on passenger volume, Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport or simply know as DTW by it’s airport code is the 17th Largest Airport in the United States and the 46th busiest in the world (year-2013). This is Delta Airlines second busiest hub, which operate out of the McNamara Terminal alongside Air France, one of their Sky Team partners.

Airport Parking

dtw airport parking couponsIn most cases, the closer you park to the main airport terminal, the greater the cost. The alternative option of having to park slightly further out from the main terminal may seem to be at an overall disadvantage in terms of location, but with the amenities provided to transport passengers, can work in your favor in terms of a lower overall parking cost. With this in mind lets go and compare The Main Airport terminal prices, versus the DTW Airport Parking Coupons, offered by private airport parking garages.

Main Terminal Parking Costs

1. McNamara Daily Parking
  • Price – $22 per day
  • McNamara Valet Parking – $36 per Day
2. McNamara Short Term Parking
  • Price – $12 per day

3. Big Blue Deck – Daily Parking
  • Price – $12 per day
  • Location – McNamara Terminal
4. Big Blue Deck – Short Term Parking
  • Price – $29 per day
  • Location – McNamara Terminal
5. Green Lot 1
  • Price – $10 per day
  • Location – Lot 1 – North Terminal
6. Green Lot 2
  • Price – $10 per day
  • Location – 0.5 miles to North Terminal

My Thoughts

As an example, parking at “Valet Connections” for one day will cost you $11.99 (including coupon discounts).
Parking here for 2 days will cost you $18.98 (including coupon discounts).

Green Lot 1 and 2 have a flat rate of $10 per Day – so slightly more over a 2 day period in comparison.

The other factor to consider is the Distance between the desired terminals. Should you park at one of the Green lots with your flight departing from the MacNamra Terminal, then the option of transport could be time consuming.

Parking within Offsite Facilities are cheaper overall, and at the very least you are guaranteed a parking space.

Parking Onsite will cost you more, and you could be delayed trying to find a parking spot. Some passengers have reflected, based on their experiences, that parking further out, including the shuttle ride – generally is quicker.

How can I save with Detroit Airport Parking?

Private parking Garages are situated in and around the vicinity of Detroit DTW. Some are within a few miles to the airport, wile others may be a little further out. These private parking garages offer a free shuttle service, that will bring you to the the main terminal or requested drop off zones. Pre-booking is key in obtaining a comparative reduction on your daily parking costs.

I don’t do a lot of traveling, but enough to know that airport parking can fees can really add up if you are there awhile. Parking in off-site private garages really does make sense, and I had not ever considered doing this before. Free shuttle service to the airport from your car is the way to go, if you are trying to save a few dollars. Thanks for sharing, I definitely learned something today!

I alao travel every week and felt the same way at first but waiting for the shuttles and then waiting for them to drop everyone else off and then the line to pay and get out was adding on 45min -1hr extra time to my trip home so now I park right at the terminal.

        Hi Terri

Thanks for letting us know about your experience.
Parking at Private Lots can add more time to your overall travel. Depending on the parking lot company and how busy they may be.

If you are restricted for time, then convenience may be the preference of choice – although you will pay double compared to the private parking lots.

        Thanks – Colin

I often wonder how people can park at the airport for days at a time, especially if they’re gone for 2 or more weeks. $36 x 14 is $504 in parking fees. How can you justify that?

Hi Kinya – wow that’s a lot of money to be chucking away – If you parked at say the Valet Connections Parking following our links, you could get away with $75 for the 2 weeks, saving you over $400. Imagine what you could do with $400?

At $9/day, (Valet Connections) how do you get $75 for 2 weeks?
        Am I missing something?

          Hi Jim

Thanks for your query in relation to Valet Connections. Parking here here for 2 weeks would bring you to a total of $140,05.
Not sure how you arrived with the figure of $75. Within the article we have no reference to this amount.
          Regards Colin.

You specifically said “you could get away with $75 for 2 weeks” above. That’s how he arrived at that figure.

Hi Anne – thanks for the response and visiting CAP. The $75 was an overall saving on how much you could save and not on how much it would cost. It relates to the respondent previous to Jim.

            Kind Regards

Rates for the Big Blue Deck aren’t correct. It is actually substantially lower. Daily parking is $12 max per day. Plus it’s covered and only a couple of minutes to terminal.

Hi Greg – Thanks for the info and well spotted. Also apologies for the error! I have changed the price to $12.00 as this is correct.

Just a quick question – The Blue Deck seems to be your preference of choice, is this due to location, price or both? Would you park else where if the Blue Deck Parking was Full? Colin

Big Blue Deck is also connected with a pedestrian bridge to North Terminal… Not McNamara. Still though, off site parking can and will save you a couple bucks if you’re not worried about shuttles and such.

My daughter and I parked in short term, but didn’t realize it was for dropping people off until we were checked in for our flight it was for 5 days and we are worried beyond the cost will be over the top. We head back today. Does anyone know what the cost will be. I’m retired military and hopefully our family will get a discount to help pay for it. Thank you.

        Hi Emily

There is more than one short-term parking at DTW. Do you know the name of the short-term parking lot?
Prices vary between different lots. Hopefully, it was not too expensive but unfortunately short term parking will cost more.

We at Coupon Airport Parking recommend Private Parking Lots as they can save you more than 50%.

        Thanks – Colin
